Grundfos Stainless Steel Submersible Pumps

The Unilift AP and Unilift AP Basic are submersible drainage pumps designed for both temporary/portable installation and permanent free-standing installation. These single-stage pumps are made mostly of stainless steel. All types are available in either single phase or three phase versions and for 50 or 60 Hz power supply.

The number in the type designation, e.g. AP12, indicates the spherical particle size that can pass through the pump.

All Unilift AP and AP Basic pumps are fitted with a plug for connection to the mains.

Unilift AP is a single stage pump with either semi-open impeller (AP12) or with vortex impeller (AP35 and AP50). All Unilift AP pumps are fitted with a stainless steel sleeve for cooling during operation. The strainer at the bottom prevents particles larger than the pump is designed for from entering the pump. The strainer is clipped onto the pump housing. All Unilift AP pumps can be supplied with or without float switch, for automatic or manual operation. Pumps with an ”A” in the type designation are fitted with a float switch. 3-phase versions have an additional starter box connected to the float switch. The outlet is positioned at the top of the pump and is available in Rp 1 1/2 to Rp 2.

An optional non-return flap valve can be fitted in the outlet in order to prevent backflow.

Unilift AP Basic pumps are single-stage pumps (AP35B, AP50B) with vortex impeller. All Unilift AP Basic pumps are made of stainless steel, with a composite baseplate. The Unilift AP Basic range is designed for submerged operation, either free-standing on the base plate or installed using an auto coupling. The pump inlet is designed to prevent to large particles from entering the pump. The base plate is clipped on by means of four clips hidden under the composite ring at top of the pump housing. The ring prevents dirt from sticking to the clips. All Unilift AP Basic pumps can be supplied with or without float switch, for automatic or manual operation. Pumps with an ”A” in the type designation are fitted with a float switch. The outlet is positioned at the side of the pump and is R 2.

Grundfos Pressure Systems

A pressure boosting system is designed to increase low pressure in a water system in order to achieve sufficient water flow and pressure to consumers.

Pressure boosting systems generally consist of one or more pumps which are installed in a booster system to increase the pressure in a system to a certain point independent of flow and inlet pressure.

System configuration
Pressure boosting systems are available in various system configurations, each offering different advantages and characteristics such as comfort level, initial investment cost, running costs, flexibility and supply assurance.

Examples of pressure boosting configurations:

  • Direct boosting systems: A system where a booster set connected directly to the water mains serves the whole building or only the upper parts of it.
  • Zone divided systems. Here, a number of boosters connected to the water mains or a common break tank serve their own pressure zone.
  • Roof top tank systems. Here, a booster fills up a roof tank from where the water uses gravity to run to the consumer. This system often has a separate booster set serving the upper floors where the pressure is too low due to insufficient geometric height.
  • Series connected system with intermediate break tanks. Here, every booster serves its own pressure zone in a building, drawing from its own break tank which is located on a separate floor.
  • Series connected system without intermediate break tanks. Here, the boosters are connected directly in series.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controlled systems
VFD controlled systems can deliver the exact needed amount of water thus ensuring that only the needed energy is consumed. These systems also have the advantage that the set point can be altered according to the flow, ensuring that the energy loss due to resistance in pipes is reduced. So even though the initial investment in such a system is higher than in a non-VFD system, the low running cost, the high comfort level and the flexibility of the system often justify the investment.

Grundfos offers a full line of maintenance-free circulators for moving hot water, from the boiler to heating devices. Energy-efficient options feature a permanent magnet motor capable of saving up to 80 percent of energy consumption when compared with conventional circulators.

Available for both new home construction, as well as retrofit projects, Grundfos hot water recirculation solutions eliminate the wait for hot water at showerheads and sink taps, preventing thousands of gallons of water from flowing down the drain as it warms.

Grundfos Circulator Pumps

UPS pumps constitute a complete range of 3-speed circulator pumps, available both in 50 and 60 Hz.

The pumps can be used in both open and closed systems. UPS pumps are of the canned-rotor type, i.e. pump and motor form an integral unit without a shaft seal and with only two gaskets for sealing. The bearings are lubricated by the pumped liquid.

Applications

UPS pumps are designed for circulation of liquids in heating and air-conditioning systems. Pumps with bronze or stainless steel housings are also suitable for use in hot-water service systems. Examples of typical applications are:

  • One- and two-pipe heating systems
