Many food manufacturers are still emptying barrels and drums by hand, this back breaking work is labour intensive and unproductive. Graco container evacuation systems (drum unloaders) solve this problem. They are designed with numerous built-in features to protect foods from contamination. Graco's piston pumps are built with sanitary flanges, quick knockdown connections and a FDA-compliant air motor shroud, making cleaning and sanitization an easy process. The unloading systems are equipped with a pump ram with follower plate and inflatable seal protecting ingredients from external contamination and bacteria, leading to safer operations over dumping and scooping.

An air operated diaphragm pump (also known as AODD pump or membrane pump) is a type of positive displacement pump that uses compressed air as a power source. The compressed air is shifted from one chamber to the other by a linked shaft that allows the chambers to move simultaneously. This back-and-forth motion, forces liquid out of one chamber and into the outlet manifold, while filling the opposite fluid chamber via the inlet manifold. Upon changeover, the fluid section that was filled on the previous shift empties into the outlet manifold and the fills the opposite chamber via the inlet manifold. The rapid changeover allows for reduced pulsation at the outlet.

Air diaphragm pumps are widely used in a variety of applications due to their versatility. NEMO® Barrel Emptying Pumps suction themselves automatically to the bottom of the barrel or container to achieve almost residue-free emptying in the chemical, pharmaceutical and foods industries. The heart of the Barrel Emptying System is a volumetrically conveying NEMO® Progressing Cavity Pump. When the NEMO® Pump is started, a vacuum is created under the follower plate. The twin screw pumps offer a great feature that they can operate over a large speedrange. With this feature, these pumps can have a dual function in hygienic application pumping the product at low speed and the CIP fluid at high speed so No additional CIP pump is needed. Due to the design, the twin screw pump can deliver a pulsation free flow on low viscosity product (<1cP), volatile and gaseous fluids. Also as a result of the design these pumps are able to create a high vacuum causing the pump to be self-priming. The JEC twin screw pump is developed according the highest hygienic specification such as EHEDG and 3A and fulfils the utmost hygienic and efficiency requirements for the most delicate hygienic applications!
Rotary lobe pumps are equally suitable for low and high-viscous media. Due to their large free ball passage and low rotational speed they are relatively tolerant to blockage and solid materials in the medium. Varying solid content and thereby caused pressure variations are no factor to the flow. Their performance capacity is higher than that of many other positive displacement pumps of the same type.
